Forgiveness Circle Workshop
Forgiveness is fundamentally a mystical experience, not just a mental or psychological one. The need to forgive is what’s called a spiritual truth, meaning that the call to forgive is present, in some form, in all m ajor religions and social systems—it’s even encoded into our biology..
So then why is it so hard to truly forgive?
Simply, because for as much as is written to tell us that we should forgive, and why we should forgive, little has been handed down through the ages to tell us how to forgive.
The desire to forgive is the natural beginning point, followed by the formal decision to forgive a specific person or situation. But these two are just the beginning of the process, especially for deep wounds. Complete forgiveness requires the cooperation of our physical, mental, emotional and spiritual selves.
The Forgiveness Circle workshop is designed to draw on these four vital components to help you develop a “forgiveness practice” to help you heal the wounds of the past and also develop an orientation toward forgiveness in your daily life.
In this six-week workshop, you will learn:
- The difference between the decision to forgive and the emotional process of forgiving.
- How anger, resentment and the like are stored in the body and how to release them sagely and safely.
- The chemistry of emotions, the basics of emotional memory and how to countermand cellular memory without resorting to denial, repression or other means of avoidance.
- How forgiveness relates to power, force, and justice, and how to differentiate between them.
- The relationship of power to victim consciousness and how to find and claim your innate power when you are the victim.
- How to use your body’s natural biofeedback system to uncover who and what you need to forgive, and to help guide you honestly through the process.
- To develop your own unique approach to forgiveness that you can use to forgive the people and events of your past, and to make forgiveness a natural orientation in your present life.
Though the Forgiveness Circle utilizes spiritual practices like meditation, contemplation, and prayer, it is not affiliated with any religion or religious system, nor is it oriented just toward people with a formal religious background. Forgiveness Circle workshops are open to everyone who has specific people or events they wish to forgive, who wish to explore the idea of forgiveness, or who wish to become a more forgiving person.
Though the venue of this workshop is a yoga studio, this is not a yoga workshop, and so requires no physical abilities or movement.
